Korea’s hottest nail trends are at the tips of idols’ fingertips! But what exactly are they? If you’re a fan of K-Pop and manicures that are ‘Treat yo’self!’-level bold, this installment of ‘Idol Beauty’ is for you!
Hwasa’s Dried Persimmon Shade
As the cold weather comes in, tone trends naturally get a little warmer, so it’s no surprise that such trendsetting chanteusse like Hwasa kicked off her autumn with a lovely burnt orange shade reminiscent of persimmon. (We love how the color really makes her gold jewelry pop!) Shades we recommend for the look? Essie’s ‘Playing Koi’ and OPI’s ‘That’s A Piazza Cake.’
Jessi’s Nude Nails
Jessi’s a fan of strong makeup looks and bold fashion, so it isn’t too surprising that she would want to balance that out with a more muted nail shade like nude or pale pink. Nude also makes her nails and fingers appear longer! Of course, which shade you go with for a nude nail look really goes with the shade of your skintone, but some popular nude polishes we recommend are Deborah Lippman’s ‘Brand New Day’ (light/medium) and Naomi’s ‘Sand and Skin’ (medium/dark).
Lisa’s 3-D Manicure
The BLACKPINK girls are forever with the sickest nail looks, so it’s no surprise that Lisa’s ‘Ice Cream’ nail look gained attention. The jelly-like manicure is rounded out with 3D accents like flowers and gems. The whimsy is paired with glittery freckles and wispy false eyelashes, creating the ultimate fantasy look. Interested in trying a jelly nail look yourself? Use a base color like Chanel’s Le Vernis Nail Gloss in ‘Rouge Radical.’
Hyoyeon’s Happy Nails
Changing weather got you down? Well, if you go for Hyoyeon’s eye-catching smiley face nail art, you’ll never have a reason to frown! We love how the pop art-inspired yellow creates a fun contrast, but we also think it would be fun to try the look with other base colors too – or even rainbow! This style can be achieved with black nail pens and a steady hand, but if you’re wanting to try a similar design yourself, there are also smiley face nail art stickers online!
Jisoo’s Checkered Tips
Another ‘Ice Cream’ look we love is Jisoo’s kitsch-cool nail look complete with hearts, anime girls, and checkered tips. Keeping each nail within a similar color family of whites, pinks, and reds pulls the quirky concept into one coherent look. And Jisoo’s natural makeup and white cardigan really allows the design to pop! To get the look at home, we suggest playing mix-and-match with design from Korean gel nail sticker brands like Gelato Factory or Ohora.

Soojin’s Retro Red Nails
When you want to rock a ‘statement nail’ without spending a lot of time in a salon chair, why not go with a classic red shade like (G)I-DLE’s Soojin? For a recent photoshoot, the idol’s apple red nail look was balanced with red accessories and an equally bold red lip color, creating a playfully vintage atmosphere. To try out the red look for yourself, we recommend JINsoon in ‘Coquette’ or ‘Vanity.’
Chungha’s Matte White Nails
Chungha’s nails are reminiscent of Jessi’s nude nail look, but are perhaps the bolder of the ‘muted nail’ category. Not only do white nails go with any kind of outfit, but in this example, the shocking color also brings attention to the slight rose in Chungha’s skin tone and her pearl accents. For a white matte that is as friendly to your wallet as it is to your fingers, we recommend OPI’s ‘Alpine Snow.’
